SUBJECT: The Bamboo Bulletin: Volume 10- Bamboo Buddies Make a Difference

November 4, 2025

Last week was at Spook-tacular week at Sherwood:

Students and Staff alike enjoyed the Halloween themed decorated classroom doors. Thank you to all of our very creative Room Parents for bringing the Halloween spirit to each class.

Students also enjoyed voting for their favorite Halloween Character Pumpkin during Library. It was almost too hard to choose a favorite of the 152 entries as they were all incredible in bringing book characters to life. Thank you to Mrs. Weiss for hosting this fun contest each year and congratulations to this year's winners!

Sherwood Book Fair

Join us on November 17-20 for the Sherwood Book Fair! Your student will find exciting books for every age and reading level provided by Anderson Books. Every purchase helps support our school! Students will preview the Book Fair on Monday, November 17, and then will be able to make purchases November 18-20, during their scheduled library checkout time.

Anderson's Bookshop does not offer a pre-pay option, therefore, the PTO has set up a Pre-Paid Account option on the PTO website (see link below) for parents to load money onto their student's account to make purchases during the Book Fair.

Cash, credit cards (including Visa gift cards), and ApplePay will be accepted, however the Pre-Paid Account is preferred.

Note-Parents do NOT have to have purchased a directory membership to make a Book Fair purchase via the website.

Prepaid amount options include: $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $35, $40, $45, and $50. Parents can purchase multiple prepaid accounts, but will be required to enter their Student's name, Teacher's last name, and Grade during checkout to expedite student checkout at the Book Fair. Pre-purchase orders will close Monday, November 17

Any remaining funds left on Pre-Paid Accounts at the conclusion of the Book Fair will be considered a donation to the PTO and will be used to purchase books for the Sherwood Library.

Behind the Bamboo
Did You Know About Your PTO?

Did you know the PTO actively organizes programs and events to enrich our students' learning and generate essential funds for our school? The money we raise directly enables us to provide teacher grants, fulfill teacher wish lists, and support field trips and assemblies, among many other important initiatives!

This past Friday, 10/31, Students paired up with their Buddies to complete a Service Project in conjunction with The Day of Giving project which benefits 200 families through the NSSD112 Foundation. Students made Holiday themed cards and packed reusable totes (courtesy of our sponsor Hotel Chocolat) with canned goods and crackers supplied by the Sherwood PTO. Theses care packages will be distributed at Northwood Middle School on their Day of Giving to families in our district in December.

A big thank you to the staff, students, Michelle Vaynman (Service Project Chair), and all of our parent volunteers: Anna Berman, Jenna Rogers, Jorie Dermer, Irina Kogan, Shari Schachter, Robbyn Ratskoff, Jamie Edwards, Anna Saliba, Sam Elias, Lisa Miller, Megan Goulatta, Abby Rothkopf, Rachel Califf, Jonathan Weiss, Michelle Gerstein, Adelina Hung, Shari Hirsh, Deanna Arthur, Mandi Baker, Rikki Saffro, Sarah Lerman, Nadia Ori, and Marnie Price who made this project possible.
