To ensure the success of each classroom at Sherwood, we need 2 room parent volunteers for each classroom. We are still short on some volunteers and need your help. The following rooms still need volunteers:

-Zwrin (1 Vacancy)

Room Parent Volunteers partner with Sherwood Teachers to volunteer in the classroom (E.g., Holiday Door decorating and service projects), communicate school/class happenings to class parents/guardians via email/text chains, and take opportunities to show appreciation to our teachers throughout the school year.

The PTO is continuing to grow, and we want you to be a part of it! Your time and skills are greatly appreciated in whatever capacity you can give. Besides the many volunteer opportunities throughout the year, the following PTO officer position is open for the 2025/2026 school year.

The following position is currently open:

Back to School Bash Chair [1 Vacancy] - This volunteer must not be a fifth-grade parent. The Back to School Bash Chair would coordinate with Mr. Saunders and Ms. Bertana on the Back to School Bash. They would hire vendors for the event, design signage, and assist with advertising the event. They would also work with co-presidents on this event.

Join us on October 25 from 2-4 pm for Sherwood PTO's Fall Fest! This is a free event for our Sherwood community! We are asking for a donation to the Moriane Food Pantry upon entering. They need salad dressing, oil, seasonings, condiments, and pasta sauce. A low sensory time will be available from 2-2:20 (only available for children with sensory needs at this time). Enjoy slides, a donut truck, a haunted house, and fall-themed arts and crafts projects!

Get ready for frights and delights during our Fall Fest Event! We need parent volunteers to dress up, help manage, and run the Haunted House. Join us for a fun-filled night of Halloween spirit!

Join the Sherwood PTO Co-Presidents on Friday afternoons from 1-4 pm at Double Cup to come share ideas, chat with members of the PTO, or check in to see what's happening! Open to all Sherwood families and staff.

Now that we've received our spirit wear, let's create school unity and pride by wearing our Sherwood gear on Fridays! Don't forget to take a picture and tag us on Instagram!

Did you know that the PTO actively organizes programs and events to enrich our students' learning and generate essential funds for our school? The money we raise directly enables us to provide teacher grants, fulfill teacher wish lists, and support field trips and assemblies, among many other important initiatives! 

Do you work full-time and don't have availability during school hours to volunteer? We have plenty of opportunities to volunteer, regardless of your schedule. You can volunteer to distribute birthday signs, set up or take down an event, or volunteer for an actual event! If you're interested in volunteering but don't know where to start, please don't hesitate to contact Stephani or Michelle at sherwoodptocopresidents@gmail.com.

Join in on the FUN and decorate a pumpkin for Sherwood's 11th Annual pumpkin book character contest!

How to Participate:

Choose a fictional book character.

• Get a pumpkin. It can be real or fake. (Real pumpkins must be fresh and uncut.
  Any pumpkins that are punctured or deteriorating will be sent home.)
• Decorate your pumpkin to look like a book character. You may use paint, duct tape, or any items of your choice. Carved pumpkins will not be accepted
• ARTIFICIAL pumpkins need to be turned in on Wednesday, October 22, Thursday, October 23, or Friday, October 24.
• Real pumpkins must be turned in on Monday, October 27, or Tuesday, October 28, only.
• Entry forms will be given to participating students. Please bring completed forms in with your pumpkin.
• Students will vote for their favorite pumpkins from October 28 to 30 during their library class. Winners will be announced on October 31 and will receive a gift basket and gift card.
• Prizes will be awarded to the student whose pumpkin receives the most votes in the following age groups: K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and FAMILY(students who receive a lot of help from their parents or families/siblings who complete one pumpkin together.)

Pumpkins will be displayed outside the school during the Halloween parade, weather permitting. Students will take pumpkins home at the end of the day on Friday, October 31.

Any unclaimed pumpkins will be disposed of on the following day.
